It's the Sport of Science!
Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets. Throughout the year, Science Olympiad requires preparation, commitment, and practice. At the Regional, State, and National Tournaments, students compete in a variety of events in their skill set. |

Any student, regardless of their interests, can shine!
Some events are "study events," where students become specialists in a field of science, and some events are "building events," where students design and construct projects to meet certain criteria. The emphasis is always placed on hands-on group participation, through which students develop teamwork, organizational skills, and --important skills for all careers. |
Students are rewarded for their hard work!
Every year Science Olympiad hosts tournaments on university, community college, and public school campuses across the state. These tournaments are rigorous academic competitions that consist of a series of different interactive, challenging, and inquiry-based events. In 2014, more than 800 teams and over 14,000 students in North Carolina participated. At the North Carolina State Tournament, the top students in each event even receive a scholarship to North Carolina State University. |
