Welcome to AP Environmental Science!
Advanced Placement (AP) Environmental science is the equivalent of a one-semester, college-level introductory course in environmental science, and while this course may be used to fulfill the Earth/Environmental Science graduation requirement for advanced students, this course is so much more!
Environmental science is an interdisciplinary field integrating knowledge from the natural sciences (biology, ecology, geology, hydrology, oceanography, meteorology, climatology, chemistry) and social sciences (economics, political science, international relations, sociology, anthropology, ethics) to help understand both the Earth's natural environments and humanity's relationship with them. The central goal of this course is to develop environmentally-conscious, critically-thinking citizens who are capable of analyzing the social and scientific dimensions of past, present, and future environmental problems in pursuit of solutions. |
